On my last visit to Thailand, I had the opportunity to visit some properties first-hand that I was keen to add to my growing portfolio of recommendations.
Cape House was a hidden gem in Bangkok, and heading north to Chiang Mai, Tamarind Village and Raya Heritage were delightful.
I’ve been lucky enough to stay in some incredible places across the country but when I returned to Khao Lak, I was introduced to something truly special.
Just over an hour’s drive from Phuket airport, arriving at the elegant beachfront retreat, The Sarojin, felt like stepping into another world. From the moment I was handed a cold towel and a refreshing drink, I knew I was in for a treat.
The resort is tucked within beautifully manicured gardens, where a tranquil lily pond leads to a stunning pool area surrounded by cabanas. It is peaceful, understated and completely in tune with its surroundings.
And then there was my suite. Huge doesn’t quite cover it! A separate living area, an outdoor shower, and a bathtub sprinkled with rose petals made for the warmest of welcomes. Thoughtful little touches like fresh flowers, bath bombs and a private outdoor jacuzzi on a spacious terrace made it feel even more indulgent. Let’s just say, I didn’t want to leave! I’m sure you can see what I mean...
One of my favourite things about The Sarojin is their all-day breakfast at Ficus. No fighting for an early morning buffet slot here - just a relaxed à la carte menu of fresh fruit, perfectly cooked eggs, and the kind of tropical juices that make you feel instantly healthier. It set me up perfectly for lazy days on the resort’s breathtaking 11km beach.
If you need any more help unwinding (though I doubt it!), the spa is set just steps from the ocean, so you can let the sound of the waves melt your stress away.
And when it comes to dining, The Edge is a real highlight. Right by the beach, with the waves as your background music, I tucked into a selection of small-plate dishes - which, to be honest, weren’t that small at all! 😊
Whether you’re looking for adventure or just somewhere to switch off completely, The Sarojin is an absolute dream. Thailand does luxury so well, but this place takes it to another level - seamless service, stunning natural surroundings, luxurious comfort and a sense of serenity that stays with you long after you leave.
Another gem added to My Thailand Collection - and one I’ll be recommending time and time again.
