I've been thrilled to see so many more clients asking about river cruises lately. There's definitely something in the air - maybe it's all those fascinating programmes with Jane McDonald showing us just how magical these journeys can be!
Take Suzanne and her mum, who recently returned from their first Danube cruise with Scenic. It was her mum's bucket list trip, and their excitement reminded me exactly why river cruising has become such a favourite.

There's a definite shift happening. More clients want to see different countries without the hassle of unpacking more than once or rushing to catch another plane or train. River cruising has that perfect blend of ease, comfort and discovery that just makes sense.
What makes it particularly appealing is that you're never far from the action. Ships dock right in the heart of towns and cities, so you can step ashore and find yourself wandering through cobbled streets, sipping coffee in a medieval square, or browsing a local market within minutes. No coach transfers, no waiting around - you're immediately in the heart of it all.
Imagine drifting past rolling vineyards in the Wachau Valley, medieval castles perched on clifftops and storybook villages straight out of a fairy tale. Whether you're having breakfast on deck, reading while watching the world go by or enjoying a glass of wine before dinner - there's always something worth looking at.
River cruising is perfect if you enjoy culture, history, and exploring at a gentler pace. It's about authentic experiences rather than entertainment - think wine-tasting in Bordeaux, cheese sampling in French villages, guided walks through Amsterdam's canals or classical concerts on the banks of the Danube.
I love hearing about clients cycling through Dürnstein's vineyards, exploring Portuguese riverside churches or simply enjoying that moment when they realise they've unpacked once but visited seven countries.
Working closely with Scenic, I've been able to offer my clients some incredible experiences.
The Jewels of Europe itinerary covers the Rhine, Main and Danube - perfect for first-timers who want to see it all.
The Gems of the Danube takes you through Budapest, Vienna and beyond - ideal for history lovers and those special celebrations.
There's something magical about helping someone experience river cruising for the first time. Many clients have had it on their bucket list for years, and that gentle "ah, this is what everyone was talking about" moment when they're finally gliding along the river never gets old.
