Three hours from Bangkok, a World Away

One of the things I love about living in Bangkok is that the city never stands still. There's always somewhere new to discover, another rooftop to visit and an energy that's hard not to get caught up in.
Every now and then, I need to hear the ocean and thankfully, I don't have to travel far.
This time, my escape was Cape Nidhra in Hua Hin. With just 60 suites, each featuring its own private pool, the hotel sits directly on a long stretch of beach, allowing you to instantly drop your shoulders and slow your breathing. There really is nothing that calms me quicker than the sound of the ocean.
My Sky Pool Suite was large! With an enormous bathroom, rain shower and bathtub combined with the private pool, which was perfectly sized for a quick dip, it felt rather decadent😊.
A simple routine quickly settled in-an early dip in my pool, breakfast overlooking the Gulf of Thailand and a long, leisurely walk along the beach with my feet in the warm sea, just the reset I was after.

Breakfast! Absolutely delicious – with a wide selection of fresh foods, cold cuts and cheeses, a fruit cart offering fruit cut to order and, of course, a sumptuous egg station.
Despite being so close to everything, Cape Nidhra is a peaceful beachfront sanctuary with staff who are attentive without being intrusive. – this is somewhere I'm sure I'll return to.

I couldn't resist doing some exploring. Hua Hin's Cicada Market is open at weekends, has colourful stalls selling handmade, artisan and local goods alongside the tempting aromas of freshly grilled seafood accompanied by live music. It's lively without ever feeling overwhelming. A stone's throw away is Tamarind Market, serving even more food – so no one is going hungry!

Sometimes the best journeys aren't about travelling further. They're about knowing exactly where to go when you need to slow down.
